MY WORK IS DONE THROUGH THE LENS OF MY VALUES

LISTEN

To be understood, I must understand.

CLARIFY

Ask questions to find the real issues before considering possible solutions.

CREATE POSITIVE DISCOMFORT

Respectfully challenge beliefs and offer honesty, authenticity, and real feedback.

CULTIVATE THE COMMUNITY

Build trust with peers to improve confidence, collaboration, and support for each other’s ideas, increasing accountability.

ENCOURAGE INCLUSION

Capitalize on the diversity of the organization and create a safe environment for everyone to share their ideas.

CELEBRATE CONTRIBUTION

Instead of focusing on accomplishments, spend time on significant contributions.

BRIDGE POSSIBILITY AND REALITY

Start with the end in mind and design programs to facilitate the process.

How I went from a full-time corporate climber to helping leaders and their teams drive better work.

I spent my 20s and early 30s climbing the corporate ladder. Working within hierarchies and conformity left me feeling deflated and cut off from my purpose. I didn’t feel I could be myself, contribute with my full potential, or be heard as an equal.

I was desperate to be heard.

Eager to contribute more, challenging the status quo.

I had ideas that I wanted to share, but it wasn’t until I reached a higher level in the organization that people finally started listening to me.

At 29, I took the reins of my official leadership role and vowed to never be some of the leaders from my past.

Leader, foodie-preneur, and follower of my passion.

My shift into entrepreneurship happened out of necessity.

While my corporate leadership roles saw me achieve significant results, my marriage came to an abrupt end. I found myself moving back to my hometown with two small children, leaving my traditional career progression behind.

I used this time to venture into entrepreneurship and started a business that was completely out of my professional zone but focused on one of my passions – food. This was without a doubt one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. While it didn’t last long, the valuable learning I took from this amazed me.

It was at that moment I took a deep look inside and asked myself, “What am I really good at and what could I do to still allow me to fulfil my entrepreneurial drive?”

The answer was quite simple: continue to FOLLOW MY PASSION. My corporate leadership roles, where I helped teams through change, sparked what I was really good at and what I loved to do. I love to solve problems and help people transform.

So, that’s what I decided to do, to continue to focus on individuals who were going through personal and professional transformations. It’s something that I realized has always been my life’s work.

While going through my own personal and professional transformation, I discovered that I wasn’t any different from other people who wanted to achieve the same thing in their lives.

As I ventured into consulting for enterprise transformation projects, I learned to create strong connections with individuals and garner their buy-in by positioning my work from two perspectives.

  1. Explain the WHY for the change in a way that people would see themselves positively in it,where they saw the value not only for the company but also for themselves. It’s important to show how the organization will change, but also how it’s staying the same. Individuals will want to maintain the integrity of the organization.
  2. Get people involved in designing the change. Giving ownership to individuals make them feel like part of creating the change. Contributing to the change gives people purpose.

It quickly became second nature…

I learned to optimize those two perspectives in everything I do so that I could make the biggest impact. I have had the honor of helping many leaders and teams accelerate their change efforts.

And best of all…

My actions have helped to increase transparency and trust, which in turn drive better results. I’ve seen individuals and teams become more confident, willing to collaborate and share ideas with peers, and most notable, passionate about contributing towards making the organization a better place to work.
